Fujitsu Introduces Highest SEER Mini-Split Heat Pumps
Fujitsu General America has introduced its new Halcyon split system heat pump line that achieves up to 27.2 SEER, making them the most energy efficient mini-splits available today, more than twice the DOE’s minimum standard of 13 SEER. The new RLS2 line of heat pumps offers 9, 12, and 15,000 BTU models with increased heating performance, newly designed chassis, and the ESP energy savings program.
The RLS2 heat pump’s heating mode is operational with outdoor ambient temperatures down to -5F, while still producing 75% or more of the system’s rated capacity. The system produces 100% of rated capacity down to +20F. For example, the 15RLS2 can produce up to 18,000 BTUs at +20F and 16,000 BTUs even when the outdoor temperature is -5F.
The RLS2H ultra-low ambient temperature heat pumps provide heating operation with outdoor temperatures as low as -15F by using a large heat exchanger, high capacity compressor, and base heater.
Fujitsu’s ESP (energy savings program) conserves energy even when the user isn’t paying attention. Motion sensors note when a room is vacant for more than 20 minutes, if so, the programmed temperature is increased by +4F when in cooling mode, and decreased by +8F with the system is in heating mode. When the room is reoccupied ESP returns the system to its previous settings.
The RLS2 line is up to 25% smaller than its competition. The simple slim form, and new curved front panel improve the appearance of the indoor unit allowing it to blend with wall surfaces.
